Communications Executive – Suas – Dublin

Suas is an ambitious, education-focused social change organisation supporting the delivery of quality education in disadvantaged schools in Ireland, India and Kenya and in the process of opening a new programme in Zambia.

We work through mentor and volunteer programmes in Ireland and India and offer development education courses and activities across third level institutes in Ireland.

We are in the early stages of a major expansion plan and are looking for a dynamic, committed Communications Executive to support the development of our fundraising and communications work in line with our ambitious plans. The candidate must be keen to be part of a professional team committed to transforming the lives of young people in disadvantaged settings, in Ireland and internationally.

Communications Executive

Contract: Full Time, 3 month contract with the possibility of extension
Location: Dublin 2

Summary of the role:

The successful candidate will design, develop and execute communications, marketing and fundraising materials and activities to support the image, perception and positioning of Suas and its respective programmes – and help mobilise supporters to carry out Suas’s mission.

This is a support role but it is essential that the jobholder has the experience and expertise to advise and influence programme managers on all aspects of marketing their programmes and communicating their activities and results.

The jobholder will also ensure that quality, authentic communications are at the heart of our communications, marketing and fundraising efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

Desktop publishing & graphic design – responsibility for graphic design of the organisation’s online presence and print media, as well as programme-specific marketing collateral.
Content Management Systems – Develop, manage & update content for website, working with programme managers to keep information on programmes and fundraising relevant. Manage website as a whole – structure.
Public relations – Lead contact for all press and public relations. Ensuring coverage for ‘stories of change’, Suas programmes and their impact generally, as well as Suas overall.
Use of Google analytics & Google Adwords to provide analysis and reporting of how effective our online presence is and how to improve it.
Social media – Responsibility for social media of organisation (Facebook > 11,000 fans). Track results and ensure all programmes are represented in a way that enables effective communication to our followers.
Resources library – Maintain Suas images & video database, ensure compliance with Dochas Code of Conduct on Images and Messages when publishing any video or image.
Publications – Preparation of online & print publications.
Supervise any outsourced communication projects to external contractors.
Data entry and contact list management.
Fundraising and programme marketing – support and implementation of each programme’s marketing campaigns and of fundraising campaigns.
Develop and ensure implementation of systematic approaches to all aspects of communications and marketing

QUALIFICATIONS

Honours bachelor degree in marketing-related discipline.

EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE

Essential

Experience with desktop publishing & graphic design.
Experience with content management systems.
Familiarity with online tracking, analytics and SEO.
Experience with public and press relations.

Desirable

Experience in marketing for non-profit organisations.
Experience using Salesforce CRM and Mailchimp.
Skilled photographer/videographer.
Experience of working closely with a fundraising team.
