Shine is seeking a Facilitator to work on a contract for services basis with our Tralee town Phrenz group for 2 hours a week with immediate effect. An hourly rate of €23 will be paid subject to receipt of relevant invoices. Applicants can be a person with self-experience or have relevant experience working in the area of mental health.
Shine Phrenz groups are self-help and social groups for people with experience of mental ill health. The Phrenz groups create an opportunity for previously isolated and disempowered individuals to gain confidence, make friends, increase support and forge alliances with other people and groups affected by mental ill health.
The Phrenz Facilitator plays a very important role in the running and development of the Phrenz groups. The facilitator is there to ensure a productive group process and to ensure that the group works as a constructive and cohesive unit. The responsibilities of a Phrenz facilitator may vary depending on the nature and activities of the Phrenz group but the skills and values required in facilitation remain the same regardless of the nature of the group.
The facilitator’s responsibility is:
To lead, guide and support the Phrenz group
To ensure that the respective facilities are open on time and that refreshments are available (where appropriate)
Provide support to the development of the Phrenz groups and members of the groups e.g. encouraging member’s participation in events, training etc.
Report regularly to the Information and Support Officer in connection with accounting for any monies expended through the groups
Provide monthly reports to and ongoing liaison with the Information and Support Officer
Attend facilitator meetings
