FAIM Project Worker – Kildare Youth Services

Kildare Youth Services supports young people, children and families in Co. Kildare & West Wicklow to enable them to live a full and active life within their communities and society.

The Family Assessment & Intervention Model (FAIM) is a differential response model initiative developed by Kildare Youth Services and the Child and Family Agency in Kildare/West Wicklow. It aims to ensure low to medium child welfare concerns are addressed as quickly as possible and to provide children and families with an assessment of need and a brief intervention based on their needs.

The successful candidate must highlight in their application form that they:

Have a recognised third level qualification in one of the following:
Social Work
Social Care
Youth / Community Work
Early Childhood Care & Education
Education

Or a related discipline e.g. Nursing, Psychology, Early Years Education etc.

Have a minimum of 2 years experience of working with young people, children and families in a paid capacity.
Have experience of formally assessing the needs of children and families who are at risk.
Have experience of brief intervention work.
Have experience of planning and implementing interventions/supports in partnership with children and families.
Have experience of preparing clear needs-led reports on children and families.

As well as the above, the successful candidate will be required to demonstrate at interview that they have:
A working knowledge of Children First and of the Children Act 2001 (Revised March 2013).
The ability to forge and develop objective working relationships with children, young people, families/carers.
The ability to work effectively and confidently with challenging situations.
The ability to work with a variety of professionals in other agencies.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
A willingness to work unsocial hours and a time off in lieu system.
A full clean driving license and own transport.

The successful candidate will be employed by Kildare Youth Services (KYS) for an initial 12 month fixed-term contract, including a 6 month probationary period.
