Preschool Leader – Trim Community Childcare

Position Summary:
At Trim Community Childcare Preschool, the children spend every day in the outdoors and the environment has been designed to ensure that the children have a challenging play environment which enables them develop and acquire skills through play.

Trim Community Childcare have adopted the policy that there is nothing inside which cannot be replicated outside – however, it is very difficult to replicate inside what is outside. As Childcare Practitioners, we have the power to give nature back to children by creating a sense of awe and wonder of the natural world. Through outdoor play, children can observe and interact with nature which will stimulate an awareness of their natural habitats around them, where they learn to be the keepers of and ambassadors for our environment.

Trim Community Childcare are seeking an energetic, creative and engaging Preschool Leader who enjoys working in the outdoors.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan curriculum/activities in line with the Siolta & Áistear the National Framework for Quality and Curriculum.
Implement and review activities appropriate to the groups needs so as to provide for children’s physical, language, emotional, social and cognitive development
Carry out duties in line with Policies and Procedures developed by the Childcare Service and in line with the Preschool Regulations.
Present a professional outlook at all times to childcare issues and present a positive approach to development in respect of: new legislation, measures taken to further protect children, and working in partnership with parents/guardians.
Lead the Outdoor Preschool team to delivering a high quality preschool experience for children
Attend staff meetings.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
Candidates should hold a Degree in Early Childhood Care & Education, however a QQI Level 6 will be considered and a valid First Aid Certificate.
A minimum of 2 year’s experience in an Early Years setting
Excellent working knowledge and experience of working to the Childcare Regulations essential.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
