Project Worker – The Dales Centre

The Dales Centre is a community organisation, set up in 2000, to address the problems of drugs and drug use in the Dublin 17 area.

We works with individuals and families from the Dublin 17 area, to assist them in addressing the issue of problematic drug and alcohol use.

Project Worker Part-time 30 hrs per week

We currently have a vacancy for a part-time project worker. The successful candidate will work as part of the team at the Dales Centre engaging with individuals affected by problematic substance use. The role will consist of developing a case load from clients that engage with the service, providing one to one support, carrying out assessments, and developing care plans. The candidate will also be involved in the development and facilitation of our recently piloted Day Programme.

The successful candidate will have:
Minimum Diploma in Addiction Studies or related field, i.e. psychology, social care, social work, youth work etc.
Minimum 3 years’ experience working in an addiction setting.
PC Literate, must be able to demonstrate competent computer skills
Knowledge and experience in facilitating educational and therapeutic groups
Understanding of the complexities of addiction and the issues related to drug misuse
An understanding of related health issues, including mental health and crisis intervention.
Good working knowledge of harm reduction and how it applies to a low threshold service.
An understanding of the process of addiction and its relevance to a client group with varying needs.
Understanding of the wider needs of the community relevant to alcohol, drugs or other community issues
Be highly motivated and able to work off their own initiative.
The successful candidate will be employed by The Dales Centre, Darndale, Dublin 17 on a part-time permanent contract. This contract subject to funding from the HSE.
