PAKT Sessional Youth Worker – YMCA

Main Tasks of the ad hoc sessional workers:
Liaise closely with the YMCA PAKT co-ordinator in all aspects of the role.
With input from local volunteers/scheme staff, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate the PAKT children’s after schools programme when required. This may be remote (via zoom) or in person work.
Plan, implement, monitor and evaluate PAKT family events when required.
Attend Regional PAKT team meetings and training events when required.
Compile records as required, attend to essential administration, budget, child protection, monitoring and evaluation, health and safety requirements relating to the programme when required.
Perform allied and kindred duties as may be required from time to time.
Scale and Impact
Sessional workers will not be guaranteed regular employment but could be called when a need arises to deliver the after school children’s programme at one of our sites in the Brookfield,Jobstown, Crumlin and Celbridge.

Discretion to Act
The panel members will liaise closely with the YMCA PAKT Co ordinator when requested, to run PAKT after school clubs.
Environment
The sessional workers will be responsible for the delivery of the PAKT children’s clubs when required due to illness or absenteeism of other workers in one of our PAKT sites in Crumlin, Celbridge, Brookfield or Jobstown

Relationships
The sessional workers will be directly responsible to, supported and managed by the YMCA PAKT Co ordinator.
Terms and Conditions
Sessional workers will be called upon on short notice at times to work three + hour periods in delivery of the after schools programme (Times may be reduced if asked to work remotely). Being a sessional worker is not a guarantee of work. Neither is there an expectation that workers be available when asked to work. Workers will be put on an existing YMCA scale (rate: A1 of scale, paid at €15.37 per hour)

Person Specification:
Qualifications
The sessional workers may or may not have a third level qualification.
Experience
The post-holder will have had a minimum of six months direct youth work experience working with children and young people.

Abilities and Skills
The panel members will be able to develop and maintain relationships with children aged 6 to 17, will have the capacity to work with children on social competence, participation, physical well being and spirituality. The panel member will need to work on their own initiative and have the skills needed to observe, understand and respond to all dynamics of the young people in the room. They will be able to work effectively with other youth leaders and volunteers
They will have strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be comfortable working in either a group or a 1-to-1 setting. The panel members will have good administrative and record-keeping skills.
Basic IT skills and working knowledge of google suite would be an advantage in fulfilling the above position.
A very good mastery of spoken English is required.

Access to a car would be desirable.
