Project Worker – My Project

MAIN TASKS
Working directly with young people
To provide one to one project support to children, young people and families
To do outreach work to engage young people and families at risk
To work directly with children, young people, parents/guardians and families to best meet their needs
To provide information and support on issues having a negative impact on the children , young people and the family
Support parents in their role
To participate in a mapping of services to support the project to identify gaps and needs
To advocate on behalf of the children, young people and families living in marginalized communities
To develop relationships and network with stakeholders, partners and professionals working within the sector
To participate as part of the MYP team.
To carry out other duties as may be requested from time to time
PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Essential
Relevant 3rd level qualification
3 years relevant work experience
Therapeutic background
Demonstrable experience of being able to engage and support vulnerable young people and of being able to ensure their voices are promoted and heard.
Experience of working collaboratively with personnel from different agencies in child, family and community services.
An understanding of mental health and dual diagnosis
Desirable
Therapeutic qualification in Creative Arts, Psychotherapy or Counselling

KNOWLEDGE AND VALUES

Understanding of impact of drug and alcohol misuse on young people
An understanding of relevant welfare and protection law and policies relating children and young people.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
Essential
The ability to communicate clearly and effectively with young people and their families, taking into account cultural and language differences.
The ability to compile written reports in relation to work and related matters.
The ability to present matters relating to work clearly to colleagues and to personnel from other agencies.
The ability to work in a small, inter-dependent team and willingness and capacity to take the initiative.
Ability to work with initiative and flexibility and attend meetings and meet deadlines as appropriate to the needs of the job (these may occur outside regular office hours).
Relevant IT skills for completting any of the above.
Good understanding of mental Health

Desirable
Ability to relate with diverse stakeholders across multiple sectors.
Ability to articulate an understanding of and insight into drug and alcohol issues as these relate to young people and and their families
Hold a current driving license and have access to a vehicle

SALARY
Salary is based on HSE social Care Scale point 4 – 7 based on experience.
Please note that the successful candidate will be required to undergo Garda Vetting.
