Purchasing Officer – Event Services and Logistics Department – World Meeting of Families 2018

The World Meeting of Families comes to Ireland!
Dublin, Ireland, has been chosen by Pope Francis to host the next World Meeting of Families in August 2018. This major world event celebrates family as the cornerstone of our lives, and the fundamental building block of society and the Church. Families from all over the world will gather in Dublin from 21-26 August 2018 programme of workshops, talks and discussions for adults; an engaging and exciting programme for young people as well as faith and fun activities for children. WMOF2018 will include the daily celebration of Mass, a festival of families’ event, exhibitions, cultural events, musical performances and events around the country.

World Meeting of Families 2018 Limited by Guarantee is a company setup to plan and deliver the scheduled events in 2018. We are a small friendly energetic team and are now looking to add more staff to work with us in the preparations for the events in August 2018. We are looking for candidates who enjoy working in a fast paced team environment and who can bring the skill we need to deliver this exciting event in August 2018. The Purchasing Officer – Event Services and Logistics Department, will be responsible for supporting the management and delivery of an efficient and effective logistics service for the successful implementation of the WMOF2018 Events. This will include the support of process for planning, purchasing and supply of goods and services for the WMOF2018.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager Duties include:
Planning with the Senior Project Manager for Event Services and Logistics and other senior staff to establish a preferred list of services and supplies required by the various departments and committees for the World Meeting of Families 2018
Assist with the planning of venue space management including the delivery, distribution, warehousing and retail areas for the World Meeting
Assist with the planning for the full end to end procurement function, vendor identification, vendor selection, negotiation, contract management and vendor performance.
Assist the services and supplies management on site during the events.

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
A third level qualification in purchasing or business management or relevant work experience.
Experience of goods and service purchasing and management of distribution
Proven knowledge of the Festival and Events industry
IT Literacy – MS Word, Excel, Internet Explorer, Outlook, CRM Database
Commitment to the ethos and objectives of the World Meeting of Families 2018
Fluent Written & Spoken English is essential
Position: Paid – Fixed Term Contract April17 to September 18
