In-house ISL / English Sign Language Interpreter – Sign Language Interpreting Service – Dublin

We are currently recruiting a short-term part-time post as part of the existing team, with particular focus to develop and operate the Irish Remote Interpreting Service (IRIS). The post will be based in the SLIS offices two set days each week but may also involve evening & weekend work:

Part-time In-house ISL/ English Sign Language Interpreter

The Irish Sign Language/ English Interpreter provides interpretive support  primarily for  the Irish Remote Interpreting Service but also to the Manager, SLIS Board and team, acting as the in-house interpreter for meetings where required.

The successful applicant for this post will:

Minimum 3 years active experience as  English/ Irish Sign Language Interpreter
Understanding & ability to adhere to  SLIS Code of Ethics & Confidentiality
Demonstrate excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
Possess and demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of issues affecting the national and international Deaf Community.
Demonstrates the skills and understands the importance of acting as a first point of contact for customers.
Demonstrates effective team-work and administrative skills in their work.
Possess and demonstrates the ability to operate the full range of Microsoft suite of programmes and desirable to demonstrate knowledge/ experience of using video-conferencing software.
