Applications are invited for a fixed term appointment as Lecturer in French at NUI Galway. The appointment is available from the 1st September 2015. French at NUI Galway is a dynamic and ambitious discipline, seeking excellence in both teaching and research. It is also one of the largest subject areas in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, with approximately 650 students. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, teaching and administration of language and literature/culture modules in all years of the Bachelor of Arts and related programmes, and may also be expected to contribute to postgraduate teaching. The appointee will additionally assist in programme co-ordination, and carry out administrative responsibilities as requested by the Head of School/Head of Discipline.

Skills Requirements

For this post we seek to appoint a candidate with: Normally, a completed PhD in an area of French Studies. The proven ability to teach French language and literature/culture at undergraduate and graduate levels. A developing track record of research in an area of French Studies in line with the disciplines teaching commitments and research profile. Native or near native competence in French and English.
