Community Development Worker – Waterford Area Partnership Ltd

Waterford Area Partnership Ltd is a leading dynamic organisation developing creative and innovative responses in delivering the Social Inclusion and Community Programme for Waterford City & County.

The successful applicant will have an awareness of issues affecting community groups whether they are area or issue based and develop strategies with the groups to address their identified needs based on community development principles and practices. The worker is required to support Waterford Area Partnership Ltd to achieve its requirements under the SICAP contract.

The person entrusted with the position will require strong skills in community development work and a background in community and voluntary sector is desirable. A flexible approach to working hours is required.

Strong computer skills – MS Word, Excel, Databases and CRM
Report writing, maintenance of records and files
Interpersonal and communication skills

Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Presentation skills
A keen understanding and awareness of social exclusion/anti-poverty work
A high level of innovation, be energetic and self- starting
The successful candidate must have a relevant Third level qualification with an emphasis on community development or related discipline with a minimum of three years’ experience either in a voluntary or professional capacity. All applicants must hold a full driving licence.

The contract is until December 31st 2017 on a 35 hour week basis with a starting salary of circa €33,000
