Health & Safety Officer – Sunbeam House Services

Sunbeam House Services currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Officer. This role requires the successful candidate to support SHS ensuring effective systems are in place to ensure that services provided are safe and meet all health and safety legislative requirements. This role has a dual focus as it relates to both the employees of the services and the people who use the services. Ensuring that those availing of services, staff and visitors are safe is the responsibility of all management and staff. However, this role involves the development, implementation, monitoring and audit of health and safety systems, and where necessary works with management and staff proactively to ensure solutions are identified as issues arise.

The person in post will work closely with Line Managers, including Persons in Charge of designated centres, to support them in meeting HIQA requirements in relation to health and safety standards. You will be required to travel to other locations within the organisation.

Applicants must have:
QQI Level 7 qualification in Health & Safety
A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a Health & Safety role is essential.
A minimum of one year’s experience and knowledge of working with HIQA regulations, and a proven ability to implement standards and regulations.
Working knowledge and understanding of fire safety legislation is essential.
Experience in working with people with an Intellectual Disability is desirable.
A minimum of one year’s experience of conducting risk assessments and in depth health and safety audits.
A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
An ability to work on own initiative, and as part of a team.
Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Organised, proactive and solution driven.
Excellent IT, report writing and statistical analysis skills.
Enthusiastic, energetic and creative.
An ability to deal with confidential information in a discreet and responsible manner.
An ability to work to deadlines in a pressurised environment.
