Social Care Worker – Specialised Service – Three Steps

One of our residential homes, located in Co. Meath, is specialised in the care of young people whose presentation includes aspects of sexualised behaviour. Together with our team of therapeutic support clinicians and experts in the area of sexualised behaviour, our Social Care Workers care for, assist and advocate for these young people.

This is a both a challenging and also an extremely rewarding environment to work in. We invest a lot in all teams at Three Steps – in addition to our general training and supports, this team receives specialized training on a monthly basis with one of the UK and Ireland’s experts in the area of trauma informed sexual behaviour. Training focusses on specialised measures around sexually problematic behaviours, including interventions to address such behaviour. Our team also benefits from continuous professional development, supported though contact and consultation time with our Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist Consultants. Additional guidance and support is also provided by Management to ensure that our Social Care team enhance their skills and knowledge, enabling them to implement therapeutic insights with the young people we care for.

The purpose of your role:
As a member of our team, you will support and care for young people with these complex needs in your capacity as a Social Care Worker. Your role will include the following:

Provide the highest standard of care in a residential care setting to young people who present with complex needs, including sexualised behaviour
Contribute to the promotion, creation and maintenance of a welcoming, caring and therapeutic environment
Participate in providing a programme of stimulating activities for our young people
Deliver duties such as key-working, medication management and other day-to-day responsibilities as part of the care of our young people
Work as part of a multi-faceted team, liaising with our clinical consultants to deliver comprehensive therapeutic care which meets each young person’s complex needs
Communicate with parents, carers and other people of significance in the young person’s life
Maintain all relevant records in a consistent and efficient manner

Social Care Worker – your profile:
Level 7 qualification in Social Care or an appropriate equivalent
Professional approach with an innate focus on the delivery of therapeutic care
Caring, committed, honest individual with great communication skills
Excellent problem solver with good judgement and decision making abilities
Flexibility regarding working hours (overnight and/or day shifts)
Experience of clients presenting with sexualised behaviour would be advantageous
Fluency in written and spoken English, and eligible to work in Ireland
A full clean driving licence and use of a car to get to/from work
