Family Carer Support Officer – The Carers Association – Wexford

Established in 1987, The Carers Association is a National Voluntary organisation representing Ireland’s 187,112 Family Carers in the home.

The Carers Association is currently recruiting for the open position of Family Carer Support Officer based at our Resource Centre, 24 Henrietta Street, Wexford. This role is a 1 year Fixed Term contract.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following-

Set up, coordinate and monitor Respite Care in the home in compliance with the Associations accreditation of ISO 9001 standard
Manage Home Care workers ensuring a dedicated and high quality standard of care is delivered in the home
Establish and Support Carer groups, giving Carers a collective voice
Lobby and advocate at local level to generate awareness of Family Carer issues
Work in partnership with voluntary and statutory agencies to increase awareness of and develop local services for Family Carers
Organise and support fundraising initiatives
Other ad-hoc duties as required

The ideal candidate:

The successful applicant will ideally have experience providing support to Families in a care related setting
A post leaving certificate/third level qualification in the area of Community Development/Social Care or related discipline is desirable
Ability to prioritise tasks and work within a dynamic environment
Flexibility in attitude and approach to the job
Excellent IT skills, mainly MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Proficiency in the English language
Coordinate budgets
Proven networking skills
Strong facilitation and presentation skills
Full clean drivers licence and own transport essential
