Mentor – Galway City Partnership -Galway City

Role Purpose/ Description:
This project will support the learning of literacy, numeracy and digital literacy through the medium of cookery. It will work with 30 people currently residing in direct provision and it will deliver a QQI L3 in cookery using this as a tailored action to enhance literacy, numeracy. Supports to ensure ongoing engagement and the ability to overcome barriers together with the provision of learning circle supports will be provided by a mentor. This person will also act as a conduit and gatekeeper between the learners and GRETB , GCP and SOLAS.

Essential Criteria:
The successful candidate will have:
A relevant third-level qualification in community development, law, human rights, social work, social science or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
A clear understanding of issues and needs of International Protection Applicants living in Galway City.
Commitment to working from an equality and human rights approach.
An understanding and knowledge of the local development sector & GRETB other local agencies and service providers, government departments and local community structures.
This post will report to the CEO, and any other nominated person.

Terms & Conditions of Employment
Duration of Contract – The contract is a fixed term contract until 31st December 2023 subject to funding from SOLAS.
Working Hours – 35 hours per week. Please note that some evening work may be required outside of these hours. The Company offers Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) for additional hours worked outside normal working hours.
Annual Leave – Annual leave will be 27.5 days per annum pro rata
Travel & Subsistence – Travel and subsistence will be paid at public sector rates.
Location of the position – The role is based in Galway City
