Module Lead Tutor – Portobello Institute

Role Description
The of the Module Lead Tutor will involve teaching, providing learner support and promoting learner experience across Early Childhood Studies Programmes at BA Ordinary, BA Honours and Master’s Levels. The appointee must be committed to development of innovative teaching and learning strategies which can be employed across various modes, with particular emphasis on on-line education and blended learning mode.
The Module Lead will work closely with the team of academic tutors, Programme Manager, College Director and the Quality Department.

Essential Requirements:
MA or higher in Early Childhood Studies or a cognate area
At least two years of experience in working directly with children in an Early Learning and Care setting
Experience in working with adult learners and teaching on Early Childhood Education programmes at level 5,6, and preferably Levels 7-9
Knowledge of current regulatory requirements and developments in the Early Childhood Studies area in national and global contexts
Technological literacy and ability to support students via the on-line education mode
Excellent organisational skills. Ability to work on own initiative, multi-task and be self-motivated
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Enthusiastic and dynamic personality with commitment to supporting and encouraging students to reach their full potential

Responsibilities:
Module leadership, development, and coordination
Lecturing and tutorial work (both face-to-face and online modes)
Providing formative and summative assessment for students’ coursework
Developing students’ academic skills and competence in the use of ICT
Supervising student research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
Participating in development of the Portobello Institute Knowledge Zone for students and wider community
Engaging in research and CPD
Participating in academic team meetings, Course Committee meetings and engaging with necessary administrative processes
