Summary role of Youth Justice Early Intervention Worker
The core of the role, will be to work with an experienced team of Youth Justice Workers, with a practice lead and direct role in working and developing the 8-11 years YDP programme.
Working in line with the Youth Justice Strategy 2021-2027 the aim is to support children aged 8-11, who have been identified as at risk of future offending, by virtue of the behaviors and/or family circumstances present at such an early age. Early intervention work can also include the provision of appropriate family supports, where necessary, to address the needs of YDP children/ young people and their families.

Person Specification:
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:
The Youth Justice Early Intervention Worker should have:
A recognised qualification (Level 8) in Community and Youth work, Social Care, Early Education, or a related discipline with experience in the subject area of children and young people.
Relevant professional work experience of working within an early intervention setting in education youthwork or social care.
Relevant professional experience in the delivery of evidence informed/ based programmes to children/young people.
The ability to demonstrate empathy, openness, and skills to relate to children and young people.
The ability to engage the 8-11 age cohort of young people, with creative and innovative initiatives that best responds to their specific needs of his age group.
Understanding of child protection policies and practices as well being willing to work with the principles of youth diversion work for the 8-11 age cohort.
Some understanding to the implementation of a Youth Diversion programme in a community setting.
Positive and flexible approach to working as part of a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to draft reports.
Candidate must have full clean Driving License or be in the process of getting one.
Garda Vetting will apply to this position.
Youth Worker Salary: CDYSB scale point 2020 – €31,555 to €48,775.
Contract Status: Permanent, subject to continuous funding
