Prospect Research Manager – UCD Foundation

Infrastructure Development
Manage the major donor prospect research function, aiming for the highest quality portfolio.
Identifying opportunities to enhance our current research systems, particularly for Major Donors, trusts/foundations and corporate prospects.

Portfolio Management
Identify, collect, organise, analyse and present biographical and financial information on individuals, corporations and foundations of potential relevance to UCD
Manage the accurate and timely recording of prospect research on Raisers Edge
Assess the quality of existing and new donors and prospects, rating their capacity and philanthropic history and wealth
Provide concrete recommendations to Fundraising Development team on prospect strategy and priorities
Support the major donor portfolios by ensuring there is a sufficient flow of ‘qualified’ prospects in to and progressing through the pipelines
Launch other special proactive projects for identifying new external prospects that align with the mission of UCD
Provide accurate and relevant profiles and briefings to frontline fundraisers and/or fundraising ambassadors
Stay abreast of major international and business news to inform prospect strategies and donor stewardship, along with renewed gifting strategies.
Gain familiarity with UCD’s programmes and keep abreast of ongoing developments in order to align donor interests to UCD’s priorities
Maintain accurate prospect and donor records and regularly monitor through tracking of press, key journals and significant events such as yearly honours and awards
Safeguard constituent privacy by adhering to the Data Protection Act and the Fundraising Code of Ethics.
Compile monthly reports from Raiser’s Edge on donor movement and present to the Development team to ensure all donor activity is administered and monitored effectively.
Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the Director of Development

Resources
To continue to evaluate existing and new research resources to ensure we are using the most effective and cost efficient sources
To create protocols with fundraisers to ensure a strategic approach to soliciting donors
To work with the Database Team to contribute towards the capture of high quality and relevant data and ensure this is being used most effectively to help drive and focus activity.
Help plan, coordinate, and manage departmental projects, including wealth screening and data analysis, educational meetings for development staff and prospect review meetings
Suitable candidates will possess the following experience and professional characteristics:

A minimum of 3 years data analysis, data mining, prospect management experience
Educated to Degree level
Excellent investigative and research skills
Experience in moving donors through the pipeline to higher gift levels
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the domestic and international business environments and corporate management structures
Experience working in complex environments desirable
Marketing/Sales experience desirable
Exceptional analytical skills, paying great attention to detail
Demonstrable ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines
Highly developed organisational and multi-tasking skills
A high degree of computer literacy and experience of using a CRM database e.g. Raiser’s Edge
Demonstrate initiative in identifying new sources of information, as they become necessary and/or available
Good communication skills, both oral and written
Competent working on your own initiative within a team environment
Exercise the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion
A high level of energy and enthusiasm
